Applicants can be an individual, company, organization, governmental body or agency, or a group comprised of any of these. Applications may be submitted by any party having an interest or involvement in a project. The project must be a redeveloped brownfield which has been completed and ready for use between January 1, 2011 – July 31, 2013. For purposes of this award, “brownfields” are environmentally impaired abandoned or under-utilized properties, and “completed and ready for use” refers to built developments (ready for occupancy) and open space or infrastructure (end use is functioning as intended).
At least one member of the nominating team should be a member of Minnesota Brownfields by the date of the application.
A team of independent judges will serve on a panel for each of the four award categories – environmental, economic, community, and small city impact – and will select the winners. Judges will be comprised of leaders in government, environmental, business and/or academic professions.
Applications will be evaluated by the judges based on measurable results of beneficial impact, use of innovative solutions, and incorporation of sustainability.
